Norban – Stockholm

At the very top, beneath the tower of St Eriks Palatset, one of Stockholm’s most prominent buildings, lies Norban’s office since 2022. The space winds through the attic floor, shifting in levels, narrowing, and opening up in rhythm with the building’s form. The ceiling height is consistently impressive, particularly beneath the roof ridges where the rooms reaches toward the sky. Here, a blend of old and new structures is visible, with exposed pillars, beams, and chimneys harmonizing with modern ventilation and custom-built solutions.

In the more traditionally structured part of the space, behind the building’s characteristic bay window, separate meeting rooms have been created. The largest of these has been divided into three smaller areas using custom-built slatted partitions. The central space becomes the heart of the office, where the grand bay window opens up towards Vasastan. The red slats allow light to filter through, creating a visual impression of activity in the adjacent areas while maintaining a sense of privacy.

Further into the space, an airy and dynamic area unfolds, where material choices create contrast and harmony. Upon entering, one is immediately met by a custom-designed table that has been constructed around one of the building’s many pillars. At almost five meters in length, it serves as a natural gathering point, reinforcing the architectural character of the room. In contrast to the original wooden floors throughout the office, this area is fully carpeted, softening the room’s character and creating a calm atmosphere. The carpet absorbs sound and adds a tactile experience that balances the raw architectural elements.

All furniture is black—an intentional contrast to the soft green and pink tones that define the project and link the Malmö and Stockholm offices together. Workstations are grouped to create distinct work zones, fostering a sense of privacy despite the open-plan layout. This is a workplace where both focused work and social interaction coexist seamlessly.
